Three big blitzes are on the 2024 calendar

As truck drivers prepare for the upcoming International Roadcheck, May 14-16, the Commercial Vehicle Safety Administration (CVSA) has released more blitz dates for 2024.

 

International Roadcheck – May 14-16

International Roadcheck is a high-visibility, high-volume commercial motor vehicle inspection and regulatory compliance enforcement that takes place in Canada, Mexico and the U.S.

During the 72-hour blitz, which is the largest targeted enforcement program, law enforcement personnel will inspect commercial motor vehicles and drivers at weigh/inspection stations, temporary sites and mobile patrols to verify compliance.

Operation Safe Driver Week – July 7 -13

Operation Safe Driver week is an annual week-long enforcement and educational campaign targeting unsafe driving by passenger and commercial drivers.

During this week-long traffic enforcement safety initiative, law enforcement personnel throughout North America will be looking for commercial and passenger vehicle drivers who are engaging in unsafe driving behaviors on the roadways. Identified drivers will be pulled over by law enforcement and may be issued a warning or citation.

Every year there is a specific emphasis, which CVSA should announce soon.

 

Brake Safety Week – August 25 – 31

During Brake Safety Week, commercial motor vehicle inspectors highlight the importance of brake systems by conducting inspections (mostly level IV) of their components and removing commercial motor vehicles found to have brake-related out-of-service violations from roadways until those violations are corrected.

Throughout Brake Safety Week, CVSA-certified inspectors will conduct their usual inspections; however, in addition, they will be reporting brake-related inspection and violation data to the Alliance. CVSA will compile that data and publish a press release this fall with the results.

CVSA also conducts an annual Brake Safety Day which can happen at anytime during 2024.
